‘A real kick in the teeth’ – MP blasts Government decision to axe funding for Kendal relief road
Commenting on the Government's decision that the Kendal Northern Access Route will not be part of its road and rail investment programme, Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron said: "It's bitterly disappointing news that the Government have axed funding for a Kendal Northern Relief Road.
"At a time when congestion in the town centre is such a major problem for residents, businesses and visitors, this decision comes as a real kick in the teeth.
"The rural North of England has once again been let by down this Labour Government who are already cutting their funding for Westmorland and Furness Council by 31%.
"I will be seeking to meet with ministers to get answers on why they've shelved this vital scheme and urging them to think again."
