Coal mine decision a complete disaster for our children’s future - MP

Commenting on the Government's decision to turn down his request to call in the planning application for a new coal mine in Cumbria, local MP Tim Farron said: "This decision is a complete disaster for our children's future - an almighty backwards step in the fight against climate change.

"It's utter and rank hypocrisy for this Conservative Government to claim one minute that they care about protecting our environment, and in the next give the green light to a deep coal mine."
