Conservatives obsessed with punishing the self-employed - MP

Commenting on the news that the Conservative Government have scrapped a planned tax cut for millions of self-employed workers, local MP Tim Farron said:

"This is yet another kick in the teeth for local hard-working small business owners.

"Over the past 18 months the Government has tried to raise their National Insurance Contributions, and attempted to drag them into charging VAT, and now they're shelving plans to give them a much-needed tax break.

"Instead of trying to help the self-employed to thrive, the Conservatives seem hell-bent on punishing small business owners, who are vital to the South Lakes economy."
