South Lakes MP Tim Farron has given his support to the NFU's campaign to Back British Farming.

Tim met the NFU outside parliament, where they were raising awareness about the difficulties facing British farmers.

Tim recently launched his 'Not A Penny Less' campaign, calling for the government to protect farm support payments after Brexit. The funding has been guaranteed until 2020, but its future beyond that point is uncertain.

Tim said: "I am proud to back British farming. Our local farmers here in Cumbria not only produce the food we need, they also look after the countryside and provide jobs for local people. Farmers currently face a lot of uncertainty about the future and what will happen to farm support payments after Brexit, but I will do my utmost to fight for our farmers. We need to make sure that farming gets the best possible deal so that it remains a viable industry at the heart of our communities."
