A lack of funds means that many flooded businesses are missing out on the flood recovery grant. South Lakes MP Tim Farron today challenged a visiting government minister to put more money in the pot, to support those which have missed out.

Tim today joined DCLG Minister Greg Clark MP, who came to Kendal to visit businesses that had been affected by flooding.

During the visit, Tim pressed the minister about the need for further funds for the Flood Recovery Grant Scheme, which gave out grants of up to £10,000 to businesses which had flooded.

Tim said: "The Flood Recovery Grant scheme has provided a lifeline for many flooded businesses. However, the government only provided a limited amount of money for this pot, which has run out. This means that although there are still many businesses that need this grant, there is not the money available to pay them.

"I spoke to the minister today to highlight this problem, and will continue to press for further funds to be made available. It is not right that eligible businesses should miss out on this money that they had expected, just because the government has failed to provide enough money."
