FARRON WOWS PARTY CONFERENCE WITH WELL RECEIVED RALLY SPEECH

South Lakes MP Tim Farron joined a speaking line up with Shirley Williams, Paddy Ashdown and Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg MP to kick off party conference in Birmingham at the weekend and wowed the delegates with a rip-roaring speech.

Tim joked "They asked me if I wanted to be part of a line-up with Paddy Ashdown, Shirley Williams and Nick Clegg... it's like being asked to play for England!"

The speech touched on the importance of voting for the Liberal Democrats in the upcoming General Election and how local party members have to work 'unreasonably hard' to make sure that our message is heard loud and clear in the up coming weeks.

Tim told delegates how he had first joined the Liberals after watching the groundbreaking documentary on homelessness 'Cathy Come Home' as a teenager. 'Cathy Come Home broke my heart - I decided to do something about it, I paid £1.50 and joined the Liberals!'

Tim's speech won a standing ovation from delegates - including from his three illustrious fellow speakers.

Tim compared the campaign to a football match in its final five minutes - and told delegates that they needn't be nervous spectators, instead they were active players and by hard work they could secure victory.
