Local Lib Dem councillors celebrate new affordable homes in Kendal

Local Liberal Democrat councillors have welcomed a new development of 14 affordable homes in Kendal.

The development at Dowkers Lane was built by Tyson Construction for South Lakes Housing.

Local councillors Giles Archibald, Phil Dixon and Peter Thornton were shown around the homes with members of the local residents' association.

The homes are part of South Lakeland District Council's pledge to build 1,000 new affordable homes for rent across the South Lakes by 2025.

Giles said: "Successive studies show that hundreds of families across the South Lakes are in desperate need of affordable housing.

"I'm proud that we've prioritised building homes for these families.

"We'll keep working to provide much needed homes for local families - while making sure developments are appropriate and in locations supported by the local community."
