MP calls for permanent ban on fracking

Commenting on the news that the Government have announced a temporary ban on fracking in the UK, local MP Tim Farron said:

"The Government's decision for a temporary suspension on fracking is testament to the tireless work of campaigners - it was a pleasure to join them at the fracking site at Preston New Road last year.

"But climate change is an emergency that needs to be dealt with now, we must focus on renewable energy rather than being distracted by more fossil fuels.

"That's why we need a permanent ban on all fracking."
