MP congratulates Lib Dem councillors

Local MP Tim Farron has congratulated local Liberal Democrat councillors following the county council elections yesterday.

Tim said: "The Liberal Democrats have run a hard-fought campaign across Cumbria highlighting Conservative failures on health, care and local schools. Residents have backed our campaigns to provide extra funding for these vital services, and the Lib Dems have successfully maintained our total of seats.

"Here in Westmorland and Lonsdale, the Liberal Democrats secured the highest share of the vote, while the party made important strides forward in other areas.

"I'd like to congratulate all those Lib Dem councillors who were elected yesterday. They have worked hard to help those in their communities and make a positive difference."
