MP expresses delight that on street parking fees are axed

South Lakes MP and opponent of on street parking charges Tim Farron has this morning welcomed the news that Cumbria county council has axed the plan to bring in on street car parking charges.
Tim said: "This is great news and it shows all of our lobbying over many months has paid off.
"It was also a big team effort so I'd like to pay tribute to Heidi Halliday, Future Ambleside, Simon Thomas and most crucially businesses and campaigners in Windermere especially Colin Jones and Bill Smith."
"It takes real strength of character to change your position so I want to pay tribute to county councillors who listened to the public and acted."
