3 Dec 2012
Tim Farron MP next to Alfie Pimblett (aged 10), the winner of Tim Farron’s 2012 Christmas card competition.

The winner of Tim's annual Christmas card competition, which received entries from nearly 400 children from local primary schools, was presented with a prize and certificate today.

Tim presented the first prize to Alfie Pimblett age 10 from Goodly Dale Community Primary School in Windermere today. Second place went to Louise Dewhurst, age 10 from Crosscrake CE Primary school and Lucie Cloke age 8 from Heron Hill Primary School was in third place.

The card, which will be sent to 40,000 households across the South Lakes, will have Alfie's design on the front, with the second and third place designs on the back. All participants have received certificates, with the winners and runners up being awarded book tokens.

Speaking after the prize giving, Tim said: "I always have great fun choosing the winner of the competition but it is also difficult as there are so many brilliant designs. I was especially impressed this year by the children's creative way of including the Olympics into their design."

"The presentation this afternoon was a really enjoyable way to start my week and I really enjoyed meeting Alfie. I can't wait for the rest of the South Lakes to see his brilliant and colourful design. I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the pupils who took part in the competition and wish all of them a very Merry Christmas!"
