MP succeeds in Bluebird bid

9 Oct 2007

Local MP Tim Farron ran the 15km Puma Trailfox Trail last Saturday to raise money for the Bluebird Project at the John Ruskin Museum. During the race, which began at 12 noon, Tim ran all the way from Coniston Hall, through Coniston before going part way up Conistion Old Man. The route then took him back to Coniston Hall via Torver.

The Bluebird Project is aiming to raise funds to restore the Bluebird K7, the boat piloted by Donald Campbell which crashed in January 1967 while Campbell was attempting to break the world water-speed record. Sponsorship forms are available from the Ruskin Museum and Tim would welcome any further donations.

Tim Farron said:

"The Bluebird K7 is an important part of our heritage, we're all immensely proud of Donald Campbell and what he achieved. I am delighted to be raising money so that the boat can be restored. The Puma Trailfox Trail was a real challenge, but I just hope to raise as much money as possible for this excellent cause."
