MP supports moves for new bridge for Grange

14 Jun 2006

Local MP Tim Farron is supporting moves to get a new bridge built to replace the unsafe bridges over the railway line in Grange.

Tim is meeting officers at South Lakeland District Council this Thursday, and is offering to call together all the key players in the regeneration of Grange's promenade in a meeting similar to the one he held about the Stock Beck Flood Alleviation Scheme last year.

Tim said: "We have shown in the past that getting all the key decision makers together in the same room can have real results - indeed the work on the Stock Beck Flood Alleviation Scheme which has now started is testament to this.

"There have been discussions around the regeneration of Grange's promenade for a number of years, and the issue of the unsafe bridges over the railway line has brought matters to a head. We need now to get the key decision makers, who will be funding both the replacement bridge and regeneration scheme, together in the same room. That way we can make some real progress, and make sure that Grange will not be without its bridge for long."

Tim is also asking local residents in Grange to contact him with their thoughts about the regeneration scheme.
