MP welcomes new hospital appointment

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has this afternoon welcomed the news that University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust have appointed Glenys Marriott to oversee improvement at Morecambe Bay hospitals trust.

Glenys will be responsible for overseeing the programme of work to deliver the further improvements needed following the recent Care Quality Commission hospital inspection.

The Trust was placed into special measures in June 2014, following the publication of the CQC's Hospital Inspection report. As part of the improvements required, the Trust was asked to submit a plan detailing how it would improve in the areas identified. The Trust will be re-inspected within the next 12 months.

Glenys also chaired Tim's independent review on youth mental health services in Cumbria.

Tim: "Glenys is a fantastic public health official. I know from the brilliant report she did for me on mental health - she has the dedication and commitment needed to help turn the trust around. I cannot think of a better appointment. I know she will work tirelessly with staff to improve the trust and to improve patient outcomes."
