No guarantees, no cash for a decade and nothing for Westmorland General – MP slams Government NHS announcement

Commenting on the Conservative Government's announcement on hospital spending, local MP Tim Farron said:

"This announcement is all talk and no trousers.

"They mention millions to be spent on hospitals in our area but that won't be for another decade and they refuse to say where the money is coming from.

"And to add further insult to injury the announcement mentions Barrow and Lancaster but there's not a single penny to be spent on the Westmorland General in Kendal.

"This is nothing more than a botched 'jam tomorrow' promise ahead of the upcoming General Election.

"Meanwhile in the real world, our nurses and doctors are overworked, understaffed and hospital trusts are being robbed of millions each year by the Government in punitive fines."
