Tim Farron praises £3.6bn plan to stop sewage dumping in Windermere

Commenting on plans announced this morning by United Utilities and clean water campaigners to stop sewage being discharged into Windermere, local MP Tim Farron said: “This is really exciting news and is the result of campaigning over many years.

“Thank you to all those who have helped put pressure on the Government and on the water company, such as tireless campaigner Matt Staniek. 

“It’s outrageous that sewage is pumped into our iconic lake.

“This is an ambitious solution that could solve this problem. It’s now important to help get the details right and I will be working hard with others to make sure that we do.”
