Tim Farron secures meeting with Education Minister over repairing Cumbria’s rural school buildings

Funding repairs to small rural schools in Cumbria will be on the agenda when local MP Tim Farron sits down with the Education Minister Stephen Morgan.
Speaking during Education Questions in the House of Commons this week, Tim said: “Small rural schools in Cumbria have some of the oldest buildings that are most in need of repair, but also some of the most pressured budgets.
“Will the Minister consider setting out a special budget aimed at making sure we tackle repair backlogs in small rural schools, such as those in my constituency?”
In response, the Minister for Early Education, Stephen Morgan MP said: “The honourable member will know that ensuring schools and colleges get the resources and buildings they need is a key part of our mission to break down barriers to opportunity and ensure every young person can succeed and thrive.
“I would be very happy to meet him to discuss these issues further.”
