Local MP Tim Farron has launched a petition calling for a change in planning law so that all new housing developments must come with appropriate local health, transport, and education infrastructure.

The Government’s housebuilding target means that there are set to be 26,000 more homes built in Westmorland and Furness over the next 20 years.

Tim said: “It is absolutely vital that these 26,000 new homes are not only affordable, but that they come with the extra infrastructure needed to support an increase in our population – whether that’s new GP practices, dental surgeries, schools, or bus services.

“This is surely common sense.

“If you agree then please sign our petition to help me put pressure on the Government to make sure that all new housing developments come with those extra services that our communities need.”

Tim’s petition can be signed here.
