Tim Farron welcomes full review into Lune Gorge M6 bridge works

Responding to tonight’s announcement from National Highways, Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron said: “I warmly welcome the news National Highways have agreed to conduct a full review into the Lune Gorge M6 bridge works.

“This is a vitally important project but I have had significant concerns about the impact that the partial closure of Junction 38 would have on residents, businesses, farmers, and Cumbria’s tourism sector

“I have been working with the local community over the past 12 months to make the case for National Highways to look again and I’m delighted that they have listened and have promised to look at every option at the table, including a commitment to a proper public consultation.

“I want also to say how proud I am of the local community, and how grateful I am to them, for campaigning so hard - it is an utter privilege to stand alongside them.”
