MP secures meeting on re-stocking River Kent

South Lakes MP Tim Farron secured a meeting last week between local anglers, and mangers from United Utilities and the Environment Agency, to look at issues facing the anglers following Storm Desmond last December. The impact on local wildlife, particularly fish stocks, was discussed, as well as plans to look at re-stocking the river.

MP pushes for early start to River Kent flood defences

South Lakes MP Tim Farron is pressing the Environment Agency to start work on a £25million flood defence scheme on the River Kent as soon as possible. At a meeting with the Environment Agency, Tim stressed that work must be started to provide reassurance to local flood victims who fear a repeat of last winter.

Increased waiting times show South Lakes needs another ambulance - Farron

Figures uncovered by South Lakes MP Tim Farron show that waiting times for some ambulance services in the North West have doubled over the last five years. Some of the most urgent calls last year took up to four times as long as the national target. Given the extra challenge of providing this service in such a rural area, Tim is calling for an extra ambulance for South Lakeland.
