Sedbergh residents welcome tougher action on Horse Fair

MP Tim Farron this morning chaired a meeting of police, council officials and local residents in Sedbergh to develop plans to prevent a repeat of last year's anti-social behaviour by a minority of travellers in the weeks preceding Appleby Horse Fair. The Horse Fair begins in the first week of June, but the anti-social behaviour plagued residents from 9 May onwards last year.

Farron re-elected Chair of Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming and gives 'two cheers' for new funding scheme

Tim Farron, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, was re-elected as chair of the cross party group which represents Hill Farmers in Parliament. The group was established 4 years ago following the removal of the Hill Farming Allowance by members committed to ensuring that the HFA was replaced by another scheme. Many people see the introduction of the new Uplands Entry Level Scheme - to be launched in February - as a clear vindication of the Hill Farming groups work and, in particular, Mr Farron's leadership of the group.

Farron Calls on Government to Repay Taxes to Mountain Rescue Heroes

Following a week in which Mountain Rescue Teams across the country have been providing vital emergency support to help deal with the adverse conditions caused by blizzard like weather, South Lakeland MP Tim Farron has called on the Government to show their appreciation by delivering some much needed financial support to the organisation.
