A packed public meeting last night gave their unanimous backing for plans to build a new local Health Centre in Sedbergh. South Lakes MP Tim Farron chaired the meeting at People's Hall, which was held in order to gage local opinion on revised plans for the site.

Mr Farron has previously been involved in bringing together all sides after the proposal was turned down by the Yorkshire Dales National Park. In January, Tim brought together doctors, planners and local councillors to help resolve the dispute. An improved new proposal has been submitted by the doctors, but the National Park has yet to schedule a meeting to consider it.
