Defra cost sharing decision 'passes the buck' to farmers-Farron

Government plans to charge livestock farmers for dealing with animal disease will heap more financial pressure on farmers according to Liberal Democrat Defra Spokesperson Tim Farron, who has expressed his dismay at yesterday's announcement which would see livestock farmers pay an annual levy to fund the cost of preparing for disease outbreaks.

CAMPAIGN TO SAVE THE ALBION AT ARNSIDE GOES TO PARLIAMENT

Today in Parliament, MP Tim Farron made an impassioned plea for help to save local pubs. In particular, Tim raised his concerns about the Albion pub at Arnside, which has been put at risk due to the decision taken by Thwaites to change all of their managed pubs - such as the Albion - into tenanted pubs.

Lib Dem Leader visits South Lakes Hospital to back Tim Farron's campaign for a Cancer Unit

Local MP Tim Farron was joined by Liberal Democrat party leader Nick Clegg on Friday 27 March to visit Westmorland General Hospital and formally back his campaign to bring a cancer unit to the South Lakes. Tim is stepping up the campaign to bring chemotherapy and radiotherapy services to the Westmorland General Hospital after his proposals were met positively by local health bosses. Nick Clegg and Tim met Tony Halsall at the Hospital to discuss the issue.
