Farron presses Primary Care Trust on specialist nurses

Local MP Tim Farron will attend a meeting with Primary Care Trust representatives about providing a specialist service for sufferers of Lymphoedema, a disease which affects thousands of people. At present there is a barely adequate service in South Cumbria for cancer sufferers who have the condition, and no NHS service at all for people with the condition who do not have cancer (who make up roughly three-quarters of sufferers).

MP Thanks Prince of Wales, asks Government to Follow Suit

Tim Farron MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming, has thanked the Prince of Wales for his generosity in setting up a £600,000 hardship fund to help those families worst hit by the crisis in British farming caused by the outbreak of Foot and Mouth and Bluetongue diseases.

Local affordable housing plans boosted by MP

Local MP Tim Farron will meet today with the Affordable Housing Committee of Underbarrow Parish Council to update them on the progress of his affordable housing campaign. Mr Farron will set out his innovative 'home on the farm' concept, whereby farm outbuildings could be sold off and converted into affordable housing for local residents and essential agricultural workers.

MP WELCOMES EASING OF RESTRICTIONS

Lib Dem MP Tim Farron, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming and DEFRA Select Committee member has welcomed the announcement that auction marts will reopen next week - allowing farmers outside the high risk zone in the South East to get back to business. Mr Farron had been working alongside NFU officials over the last week to persuade ministers to agree to this easing of restrictions.

Politics on the agenda for Radio Ambleside

Local MP Tim Farron was grilled by pupils from the Lakes School as part of Radio Ambleside on his life as a politician and his opinions on some of the hot political potatoes of the day. Tim was joined by ten children from the school during a 45 minute 'Question Tim(e)' type event.
