Local MP Tim Farron has welcomed South Lakeland District Council's budget plans for the year ahead, which were approved last night at a meeting of the full council.

100% of local hospital day-beds occupied over last three months

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has slammed the government for putting the NHS under "extreme and unsustainable pressure" as NHS data released today shows that the occupancy rate during the last quarter for day-only beds at local hospitals was 100%. Tim is calling for an emergency NHS funding boost to be announced in the upcoming budget.

Cash-strapped local NHS needs urgent funding boost - Farron

Figures released this week show that the local NHS Trust posted a deficit of more than £13million at the end of the third quarter, with a predicted deficit of almost £17 million by the end of the financial year. South Lakes MP Tim Farron has written to the Chancellor calling for an urgent cash boost in the upcoming budget to support cash-strapped local health services.
