Prison fire figures raise safety concerns

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has uncovered figures showing that there were a record 2580 prison fires nationally last year, including at local prisons Haverigg and Lancaster Farms. Tim has said these figures raise concerns about staff and inmate safety.

£100million funding pot could give Kendal Urgent Care Centre green light

Plans for an Urgent Care Centre at Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal received a boost following the announcement of a £100million funding pot for capital investment to relieve pressure on A&E services. 999 emergencies must not be left waiting - Farron

999 calls are emergencies and must be treated as such, according to South Lakeland MP Tim Farron. He has uncovered police figures showing that some callers have had to wait well over 3 minutes to get through to Cumbria Police after calling the emergency number, and hundreds of callers have hung up before getting through.

£572million NHS cuts 'ask the impossible' - Farron

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has vowed to continue to fight to protect local NHS services in South Cumbria, following the government's announcement in the budget that it would press ahead with savage NHS cuts. This news comes in the week that it was announced that beds would be closed and services removed from hospitals in North and West Cumbria.
