Farron judges Primary Pupil Political Challenge

Local MP Tim Farron joined primary school pupils from across Kendal on Friday to act as a judge for the Primary Political Challenge. The event was organised by 6th Form pupils at Queen Katherine School, and saw teams from 6 primary schools give presentations on pressing political questions.

Farron challenges Chancellor over Cumbria flood cash

South Lakeland MP Tim Farron has challenged the Chancellor to use the budget to keep the promises made to Cumbria that it would be given the funds needed to fight back from the floods. Earlier this year, the government turned down a £25million funding bid for flood resilience measures across the county.

Budget: Lib Dems demand emergency funds for NHS and social care

Ahead of tomorrow's budget, Lib Dem leader Tim Farron has called for an extra £40million of emergency funding for health and social care in Cumbria. This funding would be part of plans for a £4bn boost which the Lib Dems are calling for nationally to deal with the growing crisis in health and social care.

New national insulation scheme needed to tackle fuel poverty - Farron

South Lakes MP Tim Farron is calling for the government to introduce a new 'Warmer Homes, Cheaper Heating' insulation scheme to support residents living in fuel poverty. Figures show that more than 1 in 10 households in Westmorland and Lonsdale live in fuel poverty, and it is thought that cold homes could have been responsible for as many as 17 deaths last year.
