Ambleside play area set for £200k upgrade

The Lib Dem-run District Council is investing £200K to upgrade the play area in Rothay Park in Ambleside. Local MP Tim Farron has welcomed this decision, saying it will "improve the area for local people and provide a further boost to tourism in the area".

Auschwitz tree planted in the Lake District

A tree originating from Auschwitz was today dedicated and a plaque unveiled to commemorate the remarkable story of the Holocaust survivors who restarted their lives in Windermere after WWII. Tim gave a speech at the unveiling, which was also attended by a Holocaust Survivor, second generation children and other guests.

Lib Dems - lack of access to gas grid leaves residents with higher bills

Figures released this week reveal that 32,000 households across Cumbria don't have access to the gas grid. Eden has the highest proportion of households that aren't connected to the grid in all of England. South Lakes MP Tim Farron and the Lib Dem candidate in Copeland Rebecca Hanson have called for more to be done to get households connected and tackle the high cost of fuel.

New data shows police cuts hitting front line

Figures released today reveal that 69 police officers and staff have been slashed from Cumbria Police's front line in the last year, representing 4% of the workforce. South Cumbria MP Tim Farron said this show that the government is overlooking Cumbria and can't be trusted to protect our police force.
